2/24/07 - What's been going on?!!?
Whooo! I'ts been a while since we updated this, so I figured I might as well clue you into what's been going on here at the Bronx Underground!

The shows in December, January and February were some of the highest attended shows we've ever had- and yet even with all the strange new faces we still feel like family! I love seeing everyone looking out for each other in the pit. When Endwell (Victory Records) came and played, they told us that you were one of the best crowds they had played in front of in the whole US!! You guys RULE!

We are trying our best to get bigger and better label supported bands to come out for you guys- and you can play a part in that. Write to your favorite bands and their record labels or booking agents: SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE BRONX UNDERGROUND. If enough people ask about it, they just might come out for you!

We've got new hoodies coming to us in March, I know they sold out in January- so we reordered. If it's too warm in March, buy one anyway, because they may not be here next year.
Oh, and keep your eyes and ears open: AMVETS is COMING BACK SOON!!!

---Dave

12/16/06 End 2006 with a bang!
Hey everyone! Thanks for making 2006 another awesome year for Bronx Underground! Our scene is amazing and we thank all of you who come to or play the shows for that.  Without you, the scene would be nothing!

So end 2006 with us at FLC on December 29th with ENDWELL, Only Hell Remains, Undying Devotion, No Goodbyes and Atlantic Victory! This show is going to be AMAZING.

Adam, Dave, Anita

7/17/06 - Settle down mah babies!!!

This Friday's FLC is looking to be crazy as always. Check out the lineup on the flyer.

In other very exciting news, filming has concluded for the upcoming DVD Documentary. It is coming out amazing and we cannot wait until it is finished. Head over to our myspace page: www.myspace.com/bronxunderground and check out the two trailers.

See you all Friday and thanks for coming to the shows. Without all of you supporting the Bronx Underground, we would not be able to put on such great shows.

We love you all.

7/30/05The Summer of Ridiculous Proportions!
So those of you who have been following the action here at The Bronx Underground know what's been up. We just celebrated our One Year Anniversary at the First Lutheran Church, and that show was AWESOME. Check out the pics provided by Elle to get a glimpse of the bands, fans, breakdancing, glowsticks, awards, underwear, couples making out, DJ and techno spinning, punk rocking, hardcore moshing and all out excitement that occurred. Those of you that attended, thanks for continuing to make this venue the best place to rock in NYC.

We have several exciting shows in the works, including the new CD release from local pop-punk heroes 4-Seen in August (see the main flyer for details), the long awaited Dalys Gone Wrong full length release in September (including the return of One Way Letter) and Rumors of upcoming Turns to Fall and Athenas Fury CD's (maybe October? Who knows?).

In addition to planning and celebrating our first anniversary at FLC, we have been hard at work prepping the Bronx Underground Compilation CD, which is due to be released at our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW (That's right, we are old bastards now- this scene is five years old and running strong)!! I have spent over 100 hours so far locked into a tiny red room with engineer extraordinaire Dave Andronico laying out the framework for what will be the most awesome compilation CD you have ever heard. A whole CD of completely new, unreleased material from the best bands to perform at the Bronx Underground over the last year. Every track from every band that has participated so far is OFF THE HOOK. So far we have finished tracks from 4 In Tha Chamber, 4 Seen, Afflitus, A Moments Worth, At A loss, Athena's Fury, Dead On A Friday, Diluted Society, How I Became A Pirate, and Turns To Fall.

And MORE bands are still scheduled to come in, so if you're not anticipating this album- you're crazy or dead!!!

This year is turning out to be one hell of a party! As always, see you at the shows!

Dave

6/03/05Caught in a Mosh!
Well last month's show was awesome! We probably had one of the most brutal pits we've ever had at any of our shows and I was so glad to have been able to play the show for once instead of just helping to run it. You all rock as always!! Seemed like everyone enjoyed the dancing...the cupcakes...the ska....the metal. Are you guys looking to get some sort of baked goods every show? I'm not sure if we can pull that off. It's not Robin the door girl's birthday every month. Though, it could be. hmmmm..... Moving on.....Please make sure to check out the message board. Talk about whatever you want; shows, music, star wars, whatever! It's fun.  and don't forget about the street team. If you want to join and haven't done so already, click on that link that says street team up there. You know you wanna flyer! You know you want stickers and stuff! Do it! Get involved! So who's coming up this month, Friday, June 17th ?

Diluted Society - Do we need to tell you anything about them? come on. Bronx punk forever
One Way letter - Awesome band with a fem singer -  back in FLC from Georgia - helloooo nurse
Hometown Anthem - Punky emoy indie-y goodness from NJ
Billy The Kid- If Stan's band is as awesome as he made our website, yow!
Hinderense - Metal up your ass from The Bronx.

Speaking of super secrets....what could we have up our sleeves next?
Tom9d: "Rectal Thermometers?"
Ian: "More Cupcakes"
Unattached: "A Lemon"
Supermark: "Arms, I bet"
Who knows!

Adam

5/18/05 - Where have we been?

In only 2 days, we've got:
The Superspecs - NJ Ska that you know you love.
Overhand Right - Bronx Metal/Hardcore just off playing two shows in Chicago with Anthrax!
Exploited Youth Punk from NY
Catalyst - Metal from NY
Autumn Sweater - Featuring Anthony from Diluted Society
Brett Kelly - You'll have to come to the show to see!!

Thanks to everyone who continually come out and support our shows as well as all the shows in the area. The Bronx has the best local scene in the NY area hands down and it's all thanks to YOU. Look for more updates next week.

Get your moshing, skanking, circle pit techno dancing shoes on for Friday! See you there.

Adam

4/18/05New music added
Hey guys. New live recordings from the Idle Minds release show at the FLC have been added to the media section. A total of 5 songs - Idle Minds, Turns to Fall, 4 in tha Chamber, Endless Portrayals and Everythings Ruined. Be sure to give them a listen.

Stan

3/24/05 Recovery.
Well, after a whole week and a half, my neck and back have finally stopped aching. That show on Friday was beyond comprehension. I can't even express in words how amazing the whole event was.

Those of you who were there were a witness to history! I am confident that there has never been as successful a show in the Bronx , ever! Those of you who weren't there missed nudity, a wall of death, big glowing balls, stage diving and skankin, and the most brutal pits the Bronx Underground has seen yet.

I, for one, am thankful to have survived that show. I swear, what with all the running around, working about security (over nothing, as it turns out) and then even playing my ass of on stage- I should have been dead.

Perhaps I was, which is why it took me so long to write this update. So, in any case - we move forward and onward and upward and whatever…

This next show is going to be yet another party. Seriously- somebody has to stop us from getting all these great lineups for shows. Eventually the continental and Madison square garden are going to start complaining.

Homecoming Queens - LI Ska
Idle Minds - Bronx based heroes celebrating their CD release this month at our humble venue!!!
4 In The Chamber – Out of the Ashes of Knuckle rose two powerhouseBronx Metal Bands. One is 4 in the Chamber (the other you will see in May)
New Comers to the scene Man Unkind - I have heard their demo- and they will kill you.

Get ready to party, because this next show is going to keep the DIY fever rolling!!!!

Dave

3/1/05Too Much Excitement to Bear
The show coming up this month is looking to be one of the biggest shows we have put together for you in a while. THREE of the best bands in the scene for each genre (in my opinion) will be playing on the same bill!

Afflitus will be celebrating the long overdue release of their first album: No One on the Other End. Explosive guitars and in your face beat downs galore on the ten song disc, available for the first time in the Bronx !

Athena's Fury is possibly one of the most emotional and heartfelt bands you will ever watch. I was brought to tears at one of their shows. (edit: Stan: You big pussy. ) Thank god I'm a happy guy, otherwise don't think I could have taken it!

The Flaming Tsunamis! – More Fourth Wave Ska, coming at you! This is the new direction ska is heading, along with bands like the Dalys Gone Wrong- and I LOVE it. If you haven't heard their EP “Zombies Vs. Robots” make sure you pick it up.

Along with these three powerhouses we will have three more bands AND some special guests!

Also, we will be selling Liquid Fanzine, a magazine devoted to the NYC DIY scene for only $1 a copy. This month, they devoted their issue to Bronx bands, and there is an Expose on the Bronx Underground itself. Pick that up, and get your head into all the Music that is going on in your ‘hood.

Also this month we have a surprise for you all- past shows have been clamoring for an event like this one to occur, and I guarantee you will all love it!

In other news, Dead On A Friday (check out new releases- they have one too!) was in the studio this week adding their song to the Bronx Comp. Yes, I am still working on it- no it is not close to being finished.

See you at the show!!!

Dave

2/19/05 The Revolution; It Comes.
Wow. That is all I can say. This last show was a record breaker on all fronts! Total Attendance for the show exceeded 250 people, so word about our little scene is really starting to spread.

We had some awesome mosh pits- hardcore dancing included, proving that hardcore doesn't have to be about getting into fights. We Sold 19 Bronx Underground T-shirts in the four-hour span of the show, and some of you were rocking them RIGHT AFTER YOU BOUGHT IT.

We had the first BX UNG RAVE party. Thanks to Nick for supplying the DJ lights, and DJ Swift for the Mixes. You all welcomed a different style of music at our club, proving that you are savvier than most any other people who dare call themselves "Scenesters". You fans are the REAL thing. You have no idea how happy this makes me. You guys and gals are putting the life into the DIY scene, and are serving as an example that the whole industry would do best to follow.

In other news: After some time stalling on the Compilation, I am finally getting my ass back in gear. This week, Dead on a Friday will be in the studio dropping their addition to what will surely be the best DIY Disc released summer, all across the nation.

Keep your Ears to the Ground- I have been hearing rumors about an Idle Minds record release, an Upcoming Athena's Fury Album and a release from hardcore metal enthusiasts: Afflitus.

DIY or Die!

-Dave

1/25/2005
Woah!
Hello there. The site had a few problems because our messageboard supposedly was hacked. This cuased the administrator of the hosting company shut down our website for a day. No need to cry though (Ian, Frank...)! We are okay now.

Here is our conversation (me, Dave, Tech support). Dave Rose thought that it is important for you to see what happened :)

Dave: I got in touch with someone here
Stan: ok
Stan: go on
Dave: at totalchoice
Dave: it's not a billing issue
Dave: Bill Kish : Ok Dave
Bill Kish : It is not a billing issue
Dave : than what?
Bill Kish : You have a forum that runs phpbb ?
Dave : yes
Bill Kish : It was exploited
Dave : ?
Dave : hat does that mean?
Bill Kish : There was a attack on your site
Stan: woah
Stan: holy shit
Dave: Bill Kish : Denial of Service attack it is known as
Bill Kish : I am checking to see if the attack is still ongoing
Bill Kish : Hold on a second ok
Dave: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=258892
Dave: check that
Stan: we got fucked in the ass, dave.
Stan: right in the ass.
Stan: so what now?
Stan: what he say anything
Dave: Dave : Ok, I have to get my webmaster online with this too, sine I don't really understand what I am looking at.
Bill Kish : It is like a virus
Bill Kish : But it attacks web sites
Bill Kish : Ok your site is coming back online now
Bill Kish : We will have to keep a eye on it
Bill Kish : If the attack starts again we will be forced to suspend it again
Dave : gwell, at least I know it's not a problem with my credit card :-)
Bill Kish : Nope your money is good
Stan: haha

12/31/04 Bronx Underground Compilation- It's Coming
What can I say- I am excited! This thing is actually happening!

This week was extremely productive, as I got the oppertunity to work with some AMAZING musicians on the production of the first EVER Bronx Compilation CD.

Athenas Fury, Diluted Society and A Moments Worth have laid down some tracks that remind me of why the hell I am still in this music business- the kids FUCKING ROCK.

I have to say, I am jelous. Of Jay AF's singing voice, Sean DS's riffage and eyeliner (and all of DS's personalities- I am so dull compared to them) , and Chris AMW's unbelievable writing talent. Dave Andronico is a guitar god, as we all know- but who knew he is also such a competent engineer?

So long as all the performances are like those I experienced this week, this album will put the bronx on the musical map, provided I manage to get the right kind of distribution.

Sick shit, right here.

Dave

12/21/2004 Hey Y'all!
The show on Friday was AWESOME. I had loads of fun dancing for all the bands that played, and you guys certainly did your best welcoming all four bands who had never played in the Bronx before. If you missed out on the action, check out the pics that Elle took- they are posted on the Polaroid Underground, the site that she provides for all of us. Thanks ELLE!

In other news- The Tracking for the Upcoming Bronx Underground Compilation is starting this week! That's right- the Bronx Underground is releasing a compilation of all your favorite Bronx Bands. Keep your ears peeled as more news becomes available.

In more serious news- We have generated our first noise complaint. We love this venue, and we love doing these shows for you- please help this situation continue to exist! When you are outside between sets, DO NOT cause a disturbance for the neighbors across the street. We will only be allowed to do this as long as they are happy with it- so if you see someone being an ass and running in the street or TRESPASSING- make them STOP!!! Next show is Jan 21st. Hope to see you there. See you at the shows!

Dave

12/8/2004 Attention fans and bands!
The flyer for Dec.18th show is up on the streetteam section and can be downloaded for print. Hand them out to your friends, even if you don't like your friends that much.
In other news: We're updating the "bands" section of the site, so to have your band's link up there, you have to email me the info (stan@bronxunderground.com). Even if your band's link is already up there, please send me the info anyway.

Wanna find out who the hottest person in the scene is? Visit the messageboard to find out!

11/19/2004 New website launched!
So after four straight years of The Ole' Red and Black Checks, Bronx Underground Finally gets a facelift! We leap into modern day, out of our kindergarten HTML and frames based website and 1997 technology. Ahh, the future - I can smell it, and it smells good. Well, as good as a bunch of sweaty punks in a hot church basement can smell, I guess. Which, come to think of it - is not that good. But nonetheless! Progress has been made here! Check out all the cool stuff on the new site, and give us feedback on the messageboard. (no, it is not going to change back- so don't ask!)
Dave
7/22/04 First FLC Show - Success!
The First show at the FLC last saturday was an unbelievable success. Over 200 people attended the show, and there were circle pits as far as the eye can see! Hell of a way to christen the new club! The Pastor of the FLC actually came down for a few minutes to check out what was going on, and he loved it. If you guys keep care of the venue and respect it, we will have this club for a long time to come.
The Next Show is Friday, August 20th at the FLC. Featuring A Wilhelm Scream, 8 Fingers Down, the SuperSpecs, Afflitus and More! make sure you come down to the show, and Bring your friends!
6/11/04 New Venue!
Finnally, after almost a year and a half abscence, the Bronx Underground Promotions officially has their own venue. The First Lutheren Church of Throggs Neck (FLC) has finally given us the blessing to run a probationary show, after several months of negotiations. The FLC was very supportive of the service we do for the youth in the community (that's you!) and was looking for a way to do outreach of their own. Since this show is Probationary, it means the future of this venue is up to you! Treat it right, and we will be able to keep it for a long time! Check the DIRECTIONS link to find out how to get there!!
